Couples intensives

More room for one defined relationship impasse

An extended session can be useful when a specific decision, rupture, or transition needs continuity that a weekly hour cannot provide.

On this pageHelp couples decide whether one extended, focused session fits a defined impasse or transition.

A couples intensive is a three-hour, focused working session rather than a compressed course of therapy. Before meeting, we identify the question that needs sustained attention and whether both partners can participate safely and voluntarily. The longer format gives us time to map the pattern, work directly with it, pause when needed, and translate insight into a concrete next step. An intensive may stand alone, supplement ongoing work with another therapist when coordinated appropriately, or clarify whether weekly couples therapy would be useful.

Is this you?

An extended session can be useful when a specific decision, rupture, or transition needs continuity that a weekly hour cannot provide.

  • You are facing a defined impasse or decision rather than asking one session to repair an entire relationship.

  • Both partners are willing to examine the pattern and participate for the full extended session.

  • You want a focused piece of work with a clear next step, not a dramatic promise of instant resolution.
